i live in an old house
built in 1925
there are many
magical things
not found in new construction
this is the lock for the
big front door
recently i painted it
the magical fix gold

the above picture is the unlocked
position - resting on its holder
now door is locked &
i mean locked
no one is coming in this door!
its pure magic
bolted shut & locked up safe!

a few post ago
i mentioned bean supper
signs i often saw in maine
thinking i need one
the old piece of paneling
in the garage
called to my creativity
 chalk board paint &
a sunny warm day
saw horses & a roller=
chalk board
 needed embellishment
gesso swirls!
 after required 24 hr drying
it is best to "season" the board
by turning stick of chalk on its side
& covering the whole board
after erasing seasoning
messages are easily erased
(often is hard to erase image
without seasoning first)
magic extraordinaire
ready for message
like
bean supper tonight!

i'm a great fan of
pinterest
this type of websites will
replace magazines
in my opinion
(bee it ever so humble)
also fan of
houzz
even got the boss man
looking at houzz
 saw this recreated folding chair
on pinterest
reminded me of the fantastic
chair that Lil Cuz & I created
well, it was my idea &
i instructed her in the way
she should paint!!

i adore it
we decided we would
paint discarded chairs
but then we added up
the cost, time & creativity
we'd charge $1,000
per chair
to me - it's priceless

my mother
standing in front
of my aunt nell
i have few pictures of my mother
when she was young
i'm thinking that being the 5th child
of a family of 6 children
there was not alot of opportunity
for photos

i do have many picture
of my daddy when young
even one with granny & him
right after he was born
perhaps, there are so many pictures
of him because of the photographer
gene that ran in the family

the above pictures is dear to me
as i am so close to my aunt's daughter
my Lil Cuz (she's 5 yrs younger)
i taught her how to "rat her hair" &
use aquanet & wrap her hair in toilet
paper at night to keep her flip
when we do thing together
we feel like our mothers
i can still hear their voices &
feel their interaction as they
shopped, cooked, & loved each other
love you - Lil Cuz
(pianoist & composer & artist extraordinaire!)

sunday details
FBCWaco
a worship service of
musical blessings
 full orchestra
talented musicians
voices of the choir
conductor extraordinaire
 i especially loved visiting with
the young flute player
who had a solo
& who is getting her masters
at Baylor School of Music
this is her real flute
an upgrade to her
professional musical life
sterling with real gold
all to create a better sound etc,
it is beautiful
she said they are still getting use to
each other
just seeing the love for this
instrument certainly is reflected
in her musical talent

just wondering what story
these other instruments
might tell

Sing unto the Lord!

faithbook
nametag greeting table
 tiered plate created
from pieplate & pizzapan
& tincans repurposed
painted to look old &
accented with checks
 embellished with clock faces,
old photos of ladies being friends,
old music & dress patterns,
stained ribbon, pearls of old
& our nametags!
see the old grand piano
in the background?
it's old, out of tune,
with broken keys
(some days i feel just like the piano!)
but each week my
dear friend plays
"bless be the ties that binds
our hearts in Christian love"
this hymn brings us from our
chatting & greeting each other
to start our study of Philippians
blessed story of Paul

how sweet is this
vintage spice can
from mrs teaffs
old store in
burleigh, tx
many of these
treasures were still
on the shelf when
shopping there
while at our farm
she passed away
a couple of years ago
but i will always remember
her for her gentle spirit
& amusement at us
city slickers
often saying to stephanie
"hey, girl, you're
all bowed-up"
(to the big bows she wore
in her hair)
gentile people
gentile part of our
great state

harvest moon
with the cool weather
my thoughts turn to
autumn decorating
pumpkins, vintage
graphics & treasures
from my shopping
days at
gallery americana
in houston
what wonderful quality
items from this gallery
that brought true works
of art to their exquisite
shop on san felipe
(for all seasons & everyday celebrations)
how sad i was when
they closed
not because i moved
& didn't shop there
anymore, but because
they sought another
dream

happy fall ya'll

after a saturday morning
of antique shopping
i believe that the above
sentiment is absolutely
true
oh, don't you know it too?

wednesday i used this
vintage tiny chair at faithbook
to greet everyone
 the ladies loved the chair
how glad i was that these
photos of Beatrix Potter
were still on my phone
as when shared at the
welcome table
brought smiles to friends
also, Jamie McCallum
did a delightful presentation
about Epaphroditus
she told his story in
the first person
we were all spell bound
a story that captured us all
how blessed we are
to have her lead us
in the study of Philippians
& be on staff at FBCW

faithbook
sack & chat
 nametag table
greeting the ladies
 this little vintage chair
welcoming friends to the
 sack & chat
to
 sit & eat!

a little peanut butter & jelly
just in case you want to stay
it was fun to share lunches, too
extra chicken salad, a yummy
pan of homemade brownies
autumn candy & apples
but
the best part was
just sitting around talking
with a group of
christian friends
blessed day, indeed

i love this girl!
be yourself
what a gift to be
secure in your
own personality
& talents
it's magical
it's fun
it is
when you use
your spiritual gifts
your God given talents

neglect not the gifts
that are in thee
amen!
