all things laced with memories
always makes a statement
to me-it's like a blessing
from those loved-
the people that shaped
my life with creativity
& a desire to make
magical memories
it's really the only way
I know to do things
&
it always means more to me
than probably anyone else!
thanks for the memories
magic!

 Ode to COFFEE

 the extremely popular &
 important coffee bar
that graces my old kitchen
 vintage coffee cans
one just as it sat on the grocery shelf
many cups ago - still has the
key used to open the can
collection of black & white mugs
 additives for needy coffee drinkers
arranged in the percelator basket
from an old pot
i love old vintage everything
but coffee?
we order it from
 Duncan Coffee Company
Houston, Texas
also sold at favorite
Bering's Hardware
whole beans
our pot grinds & drips the
morning java
favorite beans:
snickerdoodle
&
holiday blend

think i'll go get a cup
good things happen
over coffee

there is a hint of
autumn in the air

a new festive wreath on the
old front door
note to self:
i am so over bows
they've been way overdone
& because there are so
many tired bows brought
out of storage each year
(not so much me, but others)
it's time for something new
wrinkled brown paper
 with vanilla dyed gauze
tired off with jute
aged tags with seasonal greetings
make
something magical

Ephemera Extraordinaire
"We welcome you most cordinally -
We welcome you most regally"

this paper garland swag graces the entrance
to the den from the kitchen

PARTY PLEASANTRIES
(a little creation of mine)

inside this little magic box
little notes about manners
and thoughtful acts
just a little reminder
that it takes so little
to be kind to others
say thank you, please, and
to smile, talk, & have
good manners at parties
and everyday to everyone

Posted by PicasaCAMPFIRE GIRLS
last week during the jury selection
& voirdire
I had such a blessed time
visiting with a friend -
we grew up together
our parent knew each other
we went to the same schools
(elementary through college)
 the same church
spent time at Fish Pond
on the lake
youth group
campfire
slumber parties
 many other memories
that were fun to recall

there just seems to be a bond
with friends that have known
each other for such a long time
whose parents knew each other
friends parents who were also
watching out for us all

make new friends & keep the old
one is silver & the other gold.......

JURY DUTY

little did I know last Monday
when I reported to Jury Duty
I would be on the jury of a murder trial
it lasted all week and I must say
that it was an honor to be a part of
our judicial system
in such a major way
the days were long & intense
with all the aspects one would expect
from such a serious act where a
  17 year old was killed

as I try this weekend to "shake off" the world
I have a new found faith in our courts
& the decision makers
that are part of the process
in a way -
I felt that it was the something I could do
as our brave military defend America's rights
across this world -
 freedom, justice & protections

it was an experience that I will never forget
we the jury found
the defendent guilt of murder
and sentenced him to Life in prision

with gratitude to our honorable courts
