this mother cardinal has been looking
for a week for a place to build her nest
with the help of the father cardinal
they've been taking twigs & vines
& string & leaves all around
the area under the pergola
truly inspecting the very large
norfolk pine
right by the back doors
& then today, alas
i spy her - sitting - on a nest
i guess they got it built when i wasn't looking

she hung it there for decoration
i just know she did

The mother and father cardinal picked a great place to build their little nest. Such a wonderful place to hang out and raise their family "to be". You think they will mind if we have lunch sometime under the pergola while they are busy coming and going?
